A huge thank you to everyone who took part in a fantastic club event! Swimmers, volunteers, spectators, cake bakers/buyers you were all amazing!
In the end, we had exactly 200 swimmers take part…ranging from 7-year olds in Academy to all 11 of our National qualifiers, with several parents too.
That meant 2 full teams of 100 with team 1 finishing in 2:53.18.76 and team 2 in 1:56.42.21
Mark Stowe said “I’m immensely proud that the Club managed to put out two teams of 100 swimmers…swimmers and parents getting totally behind the “we remember them” campaign…it was truly wonderful to see so much support”

Each swimmer paid £5 to enter so we will have raised £1,000 from entry fees and the cake sale organised by Emma Armstrong raised a further £268 – A fantastic amount!
I have just got off the phone with Simon Wright, ‘we remember them’ organiser and he is totally blown away with the support we have shown, clubs are struggling to get 100 swimmers to take part and he is very emotional that we have managed to get two teams together and support his campaign – WOW! WOW! WOW! was his favourite phrase. He also mentioned that our Team 2 are currently 2nd on the leader-board just behind Loughborough, well done!
There were a few swimmers who didn’t pay their entry fee last night, if you could hand your £5 to Caren Yates, anyone poolside or by donating on our virginmoney page; https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KateWilkinson10  we would much appreciate it.
If anyone works for a company that match-fund any monies raised for charity, please could you see if you can help – we would love to boost the money raised for the Royal British Legion even further as a special way to commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1.
Thanks again to everyone that took part – absolutely magnificent community!
