….AS CITY COUNCIL CABINET BACKS 8 LANES
This is an extract from the latest edition of Worcester City Council’s “City Life” magazine.
The final decision on building a new swimming pool will be taken in a few days’ time. Plans to build a new 8 lane pool as an extension to the existing Perdiswell Leisure Centre, which would also be refurbished, have been examined by members of Worcester City Council’s Cabinet.
A final decision on whether to go ahead with the building of the new pool will be made at a meeting of the full Council on September 30.
Councillor Simon Geraghty, leader of Worcester City Council, added: “If approved by the full Council, our plans for a new competition standard 8 lane pool will create a fantastic new future swimming pool and sports facility for the city”.
The revised proposals for the pool have been prepared after consultation with Worcester Swimming Club and the ASA (formerly the Amateur Swimming Association). If a new pool is built, the existing one at Sansome Walk will stay open until the Perdiswell facility is completed.
