On Saturday 7th June, Worcester made it a remarkable three PGL League wins in four years, defending their 2013 title in brilliant fashion at the league Final in Gloucester.

Worcester took the lead in event 5 and whilst not pulling far ahead of the other teams, never once relinquished their advantage, eventually finishing 28 points clear of Cheltenham.

The final points were Worcester 311, Cheltenham 283, Redditch 274, Pershore 262, Stourbridge 259, Evesham 242, Wyre Forest 236 and Oldbury 206.

Worcester won 14 of the 60 events with Lizzy Rhoden, the Club’s most successful swimmer, bagging a brace… 1st in both the 11/u 25m and 12/u 50m Freestyle events!

The 11s proved a very productive age group for the Club with Abigail Moore (Butterfly), Josie Armstrong (Backstroke), Baeli Fern (Backstroke) and George Glover (Freestyle) all finishing first in tremendous style.

In the 9-year old age group, Grace Rhoden (Butterfly) and Megan Williams (Backstroke) showed real style whilst Jack Sweeney proved unstoppable, finishing 1st in the Freestyle… before picking up Speeding Tickets in the 9s Butterfly and 10s Backstroke!

The only other individual win came from the excellent Megan Bury in the 12/u 50m Backstroke but critically, there were many fine 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes… and above all, this was a team performance with consistency and strength in depth the key to Worcester’s success… every single swimmer in the squad contributing to the victory.

The full team was: Grace Rhoden, Lydia Cooper, Megan Williams, Becky Yates, Manon Aylward, Rosie Wikeley, Izzy Trow, Megan Bury, Katie Brookes, Lizzy Rhoden, Abigail Moore, Josie Armstrong, Kayleigh Barr, Kate Sudworth, Elizabeth Moyden, Nemi Edwards, Natasha Knight, Hannah Bridge, Hannah Matthews, Becky Redfern, Jack Smith, Jack Sweeney, Henry Collinson, Daniel Day, Baeli Fern, Sam Hartley, Sam Doyle, Josh Bennett, Jack Nawarycz, Adam Smith, Ben Pye, Matthew Gullen, Zak Gilchrist, Jensen Beard and Craig Strachan.
